We’re excited to welcome your family to a new era of school meals! Community Roots School Food Services Agency, a partnership between eight local school districts and the Nevada County Office of Education, is proud to launch a fresh approach to school nutrition through California’s Universal Meals Program (Provision 2).
All students will receive breakfast and lunch at no cost—no need to pay for meals.
But to keep this program going strong and ensure we receive critical state and federal funding, we need your help.
Even though meals are free for all students, we are still required to collect an income eligibility form from every household. Completing this form is vital because:
It allows our schools to receive reimbursements that fund the free meal program.
It helps us maintain and expand access to high-quality meals for all students.
It can also benefit your family by qualifying your child(ren) for other programs, such as reduced fees for ELOP, internet access, SunBucks and more!
What’s new this year?
Community Roots is proud to serve scratch-cooked meals made with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. This is more than just school lunch, it’s a transformative shift toward better nutrition, stronger local food systems, and meals students can be proud of.

We believe that nourishing food supports learning, growth, and wellness. With your support in completing the income eligibility form, we can continue building a program that serves every child with dignity, quality, and care.
Please Apply through this link: Income Form Application and complete as soon as possible.
If you have any questions or need assistance, please contact your school office or our meal services team at info@communityrootsnc.org or call us at 530-452-0980.
Thank you for being an essential part of this exciting new chapter of school food.
